The opening date of the Hokkaido Shinkansen between Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto and Sapporo is expected to be significantly delayed from the original plan, to after the end of fiscal year 2038.
At the general meeting, it was agreed to ask the national government for the early extension of the Hokkaido Shinkansen to Sapporo and support to prevent new local burdens from increasing. The nine local governments plan to submit a request to the Railway Transport Organization, the national government, and others in the future.
